There are many health benefits of blueberries. First of all, the blue color in blueberry skin contains anthocyanins, and anti-oxidant pigments. Fresh blueberries contain various phytochemicals which possibly have a role in reducing risks of some diseases, reducing inflammation and inhibiting the development of certain cancer cells. Also, blueberries have been shown to lower brain damage in an experimental stroke on animals, may alleviate the cognitive decline occurring in Alzheimer's disease and of aging. Other health benefits includes enhanced memory and learning in elders, reduced blood sugar, and reduced depression levels.
